Parent Wellbeing

Parental burnout is real and measurable - exhaustion, distance from the children, and loss of enjoyment. Recovery does not require spa days: UNICEF's parenting resources stress connection and realistic expectations, and the CDC notes children 3-5 need active play through the day while ages 6-17 need 60 minutes - moving together restores parents and children at once.

Fifteen minutes count

Short, real breaks beat rare big ones. An activity that runs itself for a quarter of an hour while dinner cooks is not a luxury; it is maintenance. Take breaks before you crack, not after.

Lower the friction

Systems beat willpower when you are tired: one shopping list, one bedtime order, one exit script. Every routine on this shelf exists so exhausted parents decide less - and moving together, a walk or kitchen dance party, counts double.

Name it early

Burnout shows up as exhaustion, emotional distance, and lost enjoyment. Naming it - to a partner, friend, or GP - is the first intervention. Support, not stamina, is what gets parents through the hardest years.
